About Lara Bezzina

Hello, I'm Lara. I'm a Sydney-based professional editor with experience across a variety of areas, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and other communications media, such as website copy, interviews, and media releases.

I first discovered my love of editing while studying for a Bachelor of Communication (Creative Writing) at the University of Technology, Sydney. I loved to workshop with other writers and help them sculpt their piece until we found a wonderful, refined version of their words.

 

​In the last year of my degree, I got the opportunity to work on the editorial committee for Soak, the 2023 edition of the University of Technology Sydney's student anthology. While working on this project, I shortlisted and selected work, helped decide the theme and direction of the book including the cover art, edited several pieces across several genres, worked with seasoned editors and publishing industry professionals to take the manuscript from the early stages all the way through to the typesetting and proofreading stages and met some amazing editors and communications professionals in the process.

The experience cemented for me that editing was my calling, and since then, I've been passionate about helping early-career creatives make their mark in the industry. Through editing, proofreading and providing actionable feedback, together we can hone your craft and ensure it meets industry standards, without sacrificing your authentic voice and identity.
